Lahaina Noon - Fun Facts!
Lahaina Noon is today! What's Lahaina Noon? It's a phenomena that only happens in the tropics - and Hawaii is the only state in the nation where it occurs. During Lahaina Noon, the sun is directly overhead at high noon so objects standing straight up (like parking meters) do not have a shadow. See below for exact times across the state!

Make Cute Gift Bags from Your Old Calendars
It always seems like such a waste to throw away the beautiful, fun or cute photos from the yearly calendars. That's why I thought this was such a great idea to share. All you need is an old calendar with great photos and some glue. I had a ruler handy but it is such an easy project that you can just wing it if you want to...Happy Crafting!

Mini Gift Bag Made from an Old Calendar Page |
Flip the photo page of the calendar over so the month is upside down
and is at the "bottom" of the page. Make a 1/2 inch fold at the "top"
of the page and glue down. This makes the top of your bag.
Find the center of the paper. Measure 2 inches to the right of the center
and fold down. Repeat on the left side. This becomes the front of your bag.
Measure 1 inch to the right of the right fold you just made.
and fold down. Repeat on the left side. This makes the sides of the bag.
Glue right and left sides together. This makes the back of the bag.
Please note: The sides may overlap. If you would like, you can
cut the paper so the back seam is in the middle of the bag.
Make 1 inch slits in the corners of the bottom of the bag.
Fold the sides in first. Then, fold the front and back flaps.
Glue the bottom of the bag together.

Mini Ice Cream Scooper - Great Gadget!
As I've written before, I am not a big fan of kitchen gadgets. So, when a friend told me about using a mini ice cream scooper to make perfect (looking) cookies, I was a little skeptical. Since she is an avid baker and her baked goods always come out looking perfect, I decided to give it a try. The mini scooper is a cute itty bitty thing, so I expected the cookies to be tiny too. To my delight, the cookies came out the perfect size and they looked great. It made measuring the cookie batter super easy. The mini scooper I use is 1-1/4 inches in diameter. If you like slightly bigger cookies, then you'll probably prefer the scooper that is 1-1/2 inches in diameter. Happy Baking!
