Diamond Head State Monument

Hot, dusty trail.  Lots of stairs.  Heaven on top.  Totally worth it!  Though the hike to the top of Diamond Head is hot and dusty, its still a favorite.  Just think how amazing it is that you are able to walk through and reach the top of a volcano.

Fun Stuff...Mimobots!

We love fun, creative stuff here at Dana Labels!  One of my all time favorite computer items is my Mimobot.  What is a Mimobot you ask?  It is a fun and creative USB flash drive.  I am notorious for misplacing things...especially small things.  I was always misplacing my USBs.  Then, I found my Mimobot.  The fun shape and distinct design is hard to miss.  Caution:  They are a little pricey, but well worth the money for the smile they bring...and for the sanity they save because I don't lose my USB anymore.  Remember to sign up for their newsletter to get updates about discounts and specials.  Enjoy!

Hawaii Five-O!?!

Same name.  Same theme song.  Same show?  Not quite.  From all I've read (and the little I've seen from TV clips), the new Hawaii Five-O is a reboot or reinvention of the original series, not a remake.  The new series will use the basic framework of the original series with a modern update or twist.  Whether the reboot will work remains to be seen.  I guess we will have to watch and see.  If nothing else, think of the new Hawaii Five-O as an hour long commercial showcasing the beauty of our islands....here's to stimulating the economy!

It's Like Magic!

Magi-Cake Strips

Have you ever been frustrated that your cake or cookie bars bake unevenly....one side is lop-sided or maybe even too dry.  No need to worry.  Magi-Cake is here!  As many of my friends can tell you, I am not big on kitchen gadgets...I still use a manual can opener.  So, when I find a gadget or cool thing that I love, I am always eager to share.  I adore these strips!  They are one of my all time favorite baking tools.  I use them every time I bake cakes, cookie bars or brownies.

As it says on the box, Magi-Cake Strips help provide perfectly level, moist, prize winning cakes...every time (this part might be a little bit over-the-top).  They are super easy to use.  Simply saturate strips in cold water, wrap them around the outside of the pan, secure with a pin and place the pan in the oven to bake.  The box I bought came with two strips.  If you are using a larger 13 x 9 pan, you simply pin two strips together around the pan.  Your baked items will be beautiful and yummy!  I found my Magi-Cake Strips at Compleat Kitchen in Kahala Mall.  They retail for $12/box.  Happy Baking!

Yummy Taro Pancakes!

Taro Brand Pancake Mix

I must admit when a friend first gave me a package of Taro Brand Pancake mix I was a bit skeptical.  Sure, taro rolls are great, but taro pancakes...hmm?  One lovely morning, as the kids were restless for breakfast, I decided to give it a try.  I was expecting a long list of ingredients to add to the mix.  (In my experience, most mixes need at least two or three more ingredients besides the mix.)  As I read the directions, I smiled in delight....all the mix needs is water.  OK, I thought, how good can this really be?  To my delight again...and the kids...the pancakes were wonderful!  Light and fluffy.  Super tasty.  From that moment on, we were hooked.  A definite favorite in our house.  The kids don't even use syrup.  I've since added a little flair to our lovely pancakes...mini chocolate chips...always a welcome addition.  We have also discovered that taro pancakes are the perfect on-the-go breakfast for morning commutes.  Just pop them in a container and go.  A tasty and quick start to the day!  I usually buy the mix at Longs.  From September 21-27, the mix will be on sale at Marukai for $3.99.  You can also purchase the mix directly from Taro Brand...see link below.  Happy Eating!
